Buying an ergonomic chair online is a gamble on your own body. Two chairs with near-identical specifications can feel completely different once you have been in them for twenty minutes, and the difference between a chair that fixes your back and one that quietly makes it worse is not something a product photo can show you. That is what the showroom is for.
Where we are
Our Melbourne showroom is at Shop 1A/280 Whitehorse Rd, Nunawading, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. It is open Monday to Friday from 11am to 8pm, and weekends from 3pm to 6pm. The late weeknight close is deliberate — most people can only get to a showroom after work.
What you can only learn by sitting in it
Three things decide whether a chair works for you, and none of them show up on a spec sheet.
- Seat edge against the back of your knees. A seat that is 2 cm too deep puts pressure behind your knee by mid-afternoon. Sliding seat-depth adjustment fixes it, but only if you know you need it.
- Where the lumbar pad actually lands. Two people the same height can have very different lumbar curves. The pad either sits in yours or it does not, and adjusting it in the showroom takes thirty seconds.
- Whether the recline holds you. Some mechanisms sag under a heavier user and stiffen for a lighter one. Leaning back properly, three or four times, tells you more than any review.
What is on the floor
We keep the full working range in both showrooms, not display shells:
- Herman Miller — Aeron in sizes A, B and C, Embody, Embody Gaming, Cosm, Sayl and Mirra 2. Sitting in all three Aeron sizes side by side is the single most useful thing most visitors do.
- LiberNovo — the Omni, Omni SE and Omni Pro, so you can feel the difference between manual, motorised and flagship trim rather than reading about it. The big-and-tall Maxis joins them on release.
- Sihoo — the DORO S300, C500 and C300 Pro alongside the value M-series, which is the clearest way to work out how much chair you actually need.
- UE — the Flow 530, 550 and 660 Air, plus the ACT 280 Pro.
- Sit-stand desks and accessories — the T-series desks run up and down on the floor, with monitor arms and headrests fitted so you can see them working.
How a visit works
Give us a call on your way, or book a slot, and a specialist will be free when you arrive. Bring your laptop if you want to sit properly at a working height. They will ask what you do all day, what hurts, and how tall you are, then put you in three or four chairs — usually including one cheaper than you expected. We would rather sell you the right chair once than the wrong chair twice, and there is no obligation to buy.
Everything we stock is genuine and carries the manufacturer's full Australian warranty, serviced locally. We are an authorised dealer for Herman Miller, Sihoo, LiberNovo and UE.
Taking it home
Stock held at the showroom can usually go home with you the same day if it fits in your car. Otherwise we deliver across Melbourne and the rest of Australia, with freight quoted at checkout against your address.
Before you drive over
If you already know you are choosing between two specific models, our written comparisons will save you time on the floor. If you have no idea where to start, just come in — that is the more common case, and the one the showroom is best at.
