Product details
The Herman Miller Aeron is the benchmark ergonomic office chair: a fully suspended 8Z Pellicle mesh that keeps you cool, adjustable PostureFit SL support for your lower back, and three sizes for a precise fit. This is the Remastered Aeron — re-engineered by its original co-designer Don Chadwick with smarter tilt mechanics and finer adjustments.
- Three sizes (A, B and C) — sit in all three at our showrooms to find your fit
- 8Z Pellicle suspension — eight zones of varied tension, fully breathable
- PostureFit SL adjustable sacral and lumbar support
- Colours: Graphite, Mineral, Onyx and Carbon, with plastic or aluminium base options
In stock and delivered across Australia and New Zealand. Try every size and colour at our Sydney (South Granville) or Melbourne (Nunawading) showroom.
Warranty: this chair includes a 1-year warranty as standard. For longer cover, tick 12-Year Warranty Upgrade next to the Add to cart button and it will be included in your order. Every Aeron we sell is genuine and brand new, and the warranty is handled by Aussie Chair here in Australia — see our Herman Miller warranty page for full terms.
Which Aeron size do I need?
Size is the one decision that matters more than colour or base. Each size changes the seat width, seat depth, back height and the range of the seat-height adjustment, so a chair that is one size out will never feel quite right no matter how you set it. Herman Miller's own guidance, which matches what we see on the showroom floor:
| Size | Who it usually suits | Seat height | Overall width | Rated to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Size A | Shorter or lighter users — roughly 147–168 cm and under about 68 kg | approx. 37.5–48 cm | approx. 65 cm | 136 kg |
| Size B | Most adults — roughly 160–195 cm; the size Herman Miller fits the majority of people into | approx. 40.5–52 cm | approx. 68.5 cm | 136 kg |
| Size C | Taller or heavier users — roughly 183 cm and up, or over about 100 kg | approx. 40.5–52 cm | approx. 72 cm | 159 kg |
If you fall in the overlap between two sizes, the deciding factor is usually seat depth: a Size C seat is about 6 cm deeper than a Size A. Taller users with long thighs tend to prefer C; anyone who finds the front edge of the seat pressing behind the knee should size down. Our Aeron size guide goes through the measurements in detail, and both showrooms keep all three sizes on the floor so you can settle it in five minutes.
Colours and bases explained
The four finishes change the look more than the feel — the Pellicle suspension and the adjustment set are identical across all of them.
- Graphite — the classic dark-grey Aeron. Dark mesh on a graphite frame; the only finish offered with the standard plastic base.
- Mineral — a light grey mesh on a pale frame. Reads as a modern, airy chair and suits white or timber desks. Available with satin or polished aluminium bases.
- Onyx — all-black mesh and frame for a low-key, monochrome look. Available with satin aluminium (black) or polished aluminium bases.
- Carbon — a newer mid-grey weave with a satin aluminium base, sitting between Graphite and Mineral in tone.
On bases: plastic is the standard Herman Miller base, strong and quiet on carpet; satin aluminium adds a brushed-metal finish; polished aluminium is the premium mirror-finish option. All three carry the same weight rating for their size. Every configuration ships with 2.5-inch carpet casters; if you are on timber, tiles or polished concrete, add our hard floor casters.
What the adjustments do
- PostureFit SL — two pads that support the sacrum and lumbar separately. Dial it until your pelvis sits upright without being pushed forward; it is the adjustment most people under-use.
- Tilt tension and tilt limiter — set the tension so the chair follows you back without effort, then use the limiter to stop the recline at upright, mid or full.
- Seat angle (forward tilt), where fitted — tips the seat a few degrees forward for keyboard-heavy work or drawing.
- Adjustable arms — height on every spec, plus depth, pivot and width on the fully adjustable arm spec, so the arms meet your desk rather than the other way round.
- Seat height — a pneumatic lift with the range listed in the table above for each size.
Looking for a headrest? The Aeron does not ship with one, but the Atlas headrest clamps to the back without tools or drilling and comes in Graphite, Mineral and Onyx to match the chair.
Aeron vs Embody: which one?
Both are Herman Miller flagships and both are on our showroom floors. The short version: the Aeron is the cooler, firmer chair with a mesh seat and the widest size range; the Embody has a padded, pixelated seat and back that many people find softer for very long sessions, but comes in one size. Read the full comparison in Aeron vs Embody for Australia, or sit in both back to back in Sydney or Melbourne.
Stock and delivery
Current pricing for each configuration is shown above on this page: Graphite with the plastic base is the entry point of the range, with the price rising with aluminium bases and the Mineral, Onyx and Carbon finishes. Every configuration listed here is in stock in Australia and ships fully assembled — unbox it, fit the casters and sit down. Delivery is Australia-wide and to New Zealand, with same-day pickup available from both showrooms. If you are weighing up a second-hand Aeron, our guide to new vs used Aerons sets out what a new chair actually buys you.
FAQ
Is this a genuine Herman Miller Aeron?
Yes. Every Aeron we sell is a genuine Herman Miller Aeron Remastered, brand new and sealed in its original packaging. You can inspect and sit in the same stock at our Sydney and Melbourne showrooms before you buy.
What warranty does the Aeron come with?
One year as standard. Adding the 12-Year Warranty Upgrade to the same order extends the cover to 12 years. Either way the warranty is handled by Aussie Chair in Australia, with parts held locally — see the warranty page.
Which Aeron size is the most popular in Australia?
Size B, by a wide margin — it suits most adults between roughly 160 and 195 cm. Size C is the next most common, mostly for people over 183 cm or 100 kg. Size A is the right call for shorter users who find the B seat too deep.
Does the Aeron come assembled?
Yes. It ships fully assembled in the Herman Miller carton; you only fit the casters. Allow about five minutes.
Can I use the Aeron on a hard floor?
Yes, but swap the standard carpet casters for our hard floor casters or glides — the soft-wheel versions protect timber and roll more quietly on tiles.
Can I try the Aeron before I buy it?
Yes. All three sizes and the main finishes are on the floor at our Sydney and Melbourne showrooms. Walk-ins are welcome; if you want a specific configuration set aside, call ahead and we will have it ready.
