Herman Miller Embody Gaming Chair Atlas Headrest
Product details
The Herman Miller Embody ships without a headrest, and so does the Logitech G Embody Gaming chair built on the same frame. Herman Miller does not make one. The Atlas Headrest fills that gap: designed, engineered and manufactured in Michigan, USA, from materials Atlas says it sources through Herman Miller's own suppliers, and upholstered in the heathered Sync fabric used on the Embody Gaming chairs so the colourways match rather than approximate.
Will it fit my chair? It fits the Herman Miller Embody and the Logitech G Embody Gaming chair, which share the same core backrest architecture. Two mount pieces close around the central spine of the backrest, a larger one in front and a smaller one behind, drawn together with the supplied screws. Nothing is drilled and no part of the chair is removed or altered.
Will it void my warranty? No. Atlas states that fitted according to the supplied instructions it does not void the Herman Miller chair warranty. Embody and Embody Gaming chairs bought from Aussie Chair carry Herman Miller's 12-year warranty, and fitting the headrest leaves it intact. The headrest has its own three-year parts warranty against defects in materials, workmanship and functionality under normal use.
- Height: sits 10.2 cm to 34.3 cm above the chair frame, 24.1 cm of vertical travel
- Depth: adjusts from 7.6 cm to 20.3 cm, so support follows you upright or reclined
- Tilting cushion shaped to sit under the base of the skull, not against the back of the head
- Fits: Herman Miller Embody and Logitech G Embody Gaming
- Heathered Sync fabric matching the Embody Gaming colourways
- Hardware pack: mounting and cushion screws, a 3/16-inch Allen key and a protective film strip
- Three-year parts warranty; designed and manufactured in Michigan, USA
What the fitting involves. Apply the protective film so the mount cannot mark the spine, loosen the mount screws, sit the two pieces around the spine, tighten by hand and then firmly with the Allen key, and screw the headrest frame on. Use the key supplied rather than a metric Allen key, which Atlas warns may damage the screws. Vertical and horizontal tension are set at installation; height, depth and tilt then move by hand from the seated position.
Colours. Four options matched to the Embody Gaming range: Black, Black & Cyan, Nightfall & Nova, and Galaxy & White. It mounts to a standard Embody as well, but this Sync fabric is matched to the gaming colourways, so check the pairing before ordering.
Is it worth it? The Embody's backrest supports the spine, not the neck, and holds you fairly upright. A headrest earns its place if you recline to read, watch or play, or sit long sessions and want somewhere to rest your head. If you sit forward all day you will rarely use it.
Aussie Chair is an official authorised Herman Miller dealer, and we stock the Atlas headrests alongside the chairs they are built for. We ship across Australia and New Zealand. Try one fitted to an Embody at our Sydney (South Granville) or Melbourne (Nunawading) showroom.
